Golfing on the Pembrokeshire Coast: Warpool Court Hotel’s Peter Trier Points to Views

Feel like a little game golf on the beautiful Pembrokeshire Coast? It’s not often you get a chance to play without a scheduled tee-time, but that’s exactly what you’ll find at St. Davids City Golf Club (not to be confused with the Royal St. Davids).

The most westerly golf course in Wales, St. Davids City Golf Club features 9 holes with 18 tees, a par 35 with one uphill par 5. Minutes from Warpool Court Hotel, on a beautiful day, you could easily walk to it.

“From its location along the Pembrokeshire Coast Path, you’ll have lovely unobstructed views overlooking Ramsey Sound and Whitesands Bay,” says Warpool Court Hotel proprietor Peter Trier.

St. Davids City Golf Club, which can trace its roots back to the end of the 19th century, is open all week and playable all year round. There are a few weekly scheduled occasions you’ll want to be aware of, when seniors, ladies and men members have the course about lunchtime. There are also a couple of days for Club competitions. Check the website for specific days and times.

You’ll find an unexpected - and much appreciated - surprise: sets of clubs and trolleys, and balls and tees are available for loan in the clubhouse. You’re asked to make an extra contribution beyond the £40 fee if you do choose to use the Club’s equipment. Another option to consider is playing at twilight for a lower fee.

As the clubhouse is not always manned, you’re asked to complete a form in the visitors’ book and pay your fees into an honesty box.

Vending machines are available for coffee, hot chocolate, tea and Isotonic drinks.

Get ready for golf unlike almost anywhere else in the world. There really isn’t anything like teeing off on the gorgeous Pembrokeshire Coast. Come try it for yourself while staying in one of our luxury rooms or our private, self-catering Garden Cottage at Warpool Court Hotel. We look forward to welcoming you.
