Heading to Haverfordwest: Warpool Court Hotel’s Peter Trier Talks Day Trip
There’s nothing better than a holiday - but with so many options to choose from, where do you start?
For something a bit different, how about indulging in a bit of fruit-picking in Pembrokeshire?
If you’re heading towards Haverfordwest, you can stop at nearby family friendly Brooksgrove Farm, in business since the 1950s. Spend the day wandering through the pick-your-own fields covered in raspberries, gooseberries, strawberries and pumpkins, depending on the season. You’ll want to check the website and call ahead to check availability as, while parking and admission are free, the car park can fill up quickly. The farm supplies free punnets. On rainy days, it can get a bit muddy, so go prepared with your wellies, raincoats and blankets.
Perhaps you’re more interested in history? An interesting little diversion is Haverfordwest Town Museum. Walk the grounds of a former castle which dates back to the 12th century and was once visited by illustrious characters including Oliver Cromwell and Queen Eleanor, wife of Edward I. The town’s civic history is on display through mayoral robes and trumpets, and there are mediaeval artifacts, carvings and artwork from throughout the ages to be explored.
When your museum tour is complete, who can say no to topping things off with chocolate? Especially Welsh chocolate - Wickedly Welsh chocolate is a sweet chocolate experience unlike any other. Discover how the chocolate-making process is carried out, and learn about the history of chocolate making. There’s also a special free entry “Have a Go Zone” where for a small fee you can make your own desired tasty treat. It’s a great place to visit for a spot of family fun if you’re travelling with children.
After your adventures, you can head back to Warpool Court Hotel to relax in our heated swimming pool, before heading to dinner in our Sea View Restaurant.
