The Perfect Getaway on the Peaceful Pembrokeshire Coast

As the sun’s warm rays bring the magic of Spring and Summer, it’s only natural that we start dreaming of leisurely vacations and well-earned breaks. Time to bring the family together, or to reconnect with those we love. Maybe even just to treat ourselves. Luckily, the Warpool Court Hotel in St Davids offers the perfect Pembrokeshire Coast getaway. Nestled in the magnificent Welsh countryside, in the heart of the UK’s smallest city, it’s a great base from which to explore and enjoy a peaceful holiday in beautiful West Wales.

Take a step back in time at Pembrokeshire’s historic sites

If it’s historic sites and culture you’re after, St Davids will not fail you. Just a short walk from the hotel you can experience the magnificence of St Davids Cathedral which stands in all its glory in the centre of the city. Alongside this imposing structure you’ll find the Bishop’s Palace; a medieval ruin that was the home of wealthy and powerful bishops. During the summer you can enjoy some great open-air theatre productions here, so be sure to check the events schedule.

Not far from the hotel, down a quiet country lane, you’ll find yourself high up on the rugged cliffs, amongst the derelict ruins of the birthplace of Wales’ own Patron Saint: St David. The Chapel of St Non, overlooking the beautiful St Brides bay, also provides a little piece of spiritual heaven. The view is to say the least, absolutely breathtaking! Close by, you’ll discover St Non’s Well, fed by a spring which, legend has it, appeared on the day of St David’s birth. It’s even said to have healing properties. Whether you believe in this or not, it’s still worth the visit. It’s a lovely spot to take in the magnificent views and the experience the invigorating benefits of the fresh Welsh country air.

Castles are to be found aplenty throughout Pembrokeshire. Drive around and you could easily get lost, weaving through sleepy little villages from castle to castle. Pembroke Castle; the birthplace of Henry Vll (yes, that Henry), and Carew Castle (part Tudor mansion, part Norman fortress) are particularly popular. Take a picnic with you or stop at any one of the quaint Welsh pubs along the way to enjoy a hearty meal and a taste of our warm Welsh hospitality.

Relax on the Pembrokeshire Coast’s stunning beaches

When all is said and done, no relaxing holiday in Pembrokeshire is complete without a visit to the exquisite beaches that surround our remote and beautiful county. They’re a great place to unwind and get away from the hustle and bustle of modern life. From the seclusion of Abermawr beach, to the great sandy stretches of Whitesands Bay, you’ll find some of the most beautiful and cleanest natural beaches in the world. Beaches that will leave you awestruck, to say the least! Beaches that will soothe your soul as you walk along endless miles of pure white sand, the soft waves lapping gently over your feet.
