The Waterpark at Blue Lagoon: Warpool Court Hotel’s Peter Trier Waves Approval

“While Pembrokeshire’s warm micro-climate often brings fine summer weather, if the temperature outside isn’t quite as high as you want it to be, you need somewhere to have a bit of indoor fun in the water. Open all year round, Blue Lagoon is a great place to visit with the children when you can’t get to the beach,” says Warpool Court Hotel owner Peter Trier.

A little over 30 minutes from Warpool Court Hotel, Blue Lagoon offers both adventure for thrill-seekers and relaxation for those who like to take things easy. The central attraction is a giant wave pool. At a simmering 30 degrees, the water undulates in six different wave patterns that break against a gently sloping beach. If you prefer not to bob in the waves, you can take a ‘wave seat’ while the waves crash past.

As well as the pool, there are four flumes to scoot down, two indoors and two outdoors:

The Falls: An open flume, this carries you outside Blue Lagoon to two large relaxation pools before winding back inside and firing you into a plunge pool.

The Torpedo: Entirely within Blue Lagoon, it’s fast and steep – definitely for the more adventurous types

The Cannon and The Cave: These two enclosed flumes twist, turn and spiral their way outside before re-entering into a catch area.

On the flip side of breathtaking rides, rapid rivers and flumes, a slow, flowing lazy river ride transports you outside to the south-facing patio. That’s where you’ll find the outdoor bubble pool with bubble seats as well as one of the two spa pools. Ten soothing hydro jets will pound away your stresses and help you unwind.

Kids really enjoy the bubbling of eight water geysers by the wave pool. As well as three other beach water geysers are spaced along the floor of the lazy river for a bubbling effect. Keep your eyes open for the two large water cannons designed to give you an extra splash as you drift your way round.

If you’re planning a day at Blue Lagoon, you can purchase a family ticket which is for four people, whether that’s 4 adults, 2 adults and 2 children, 3 adults and 1 child or 1 adult and 3 children. For those with very young children,  a swimming nappy is provided with a full priced under 4 ticket. Additional swimming nappies can be purchased in The Wave shop for £1. (Swim wear must be worn above the swim nappy.)  The facilities have family changing rooms as well as separate male and female changing areas and lockers are available for a small fee.

There are height and supervision restrictions to be mindful of if you’re bringing a group of children, so it’s always best to check those out before your visit.

After working up an appetite with your energetic day out, nothing’s better than heading back to Warpool Court Hotel, for a rest and a sweet treat in our Sea View Restaurant. Warpool Court Hotel’s luxury rooms or private, self-catering Garden Cottage are the perfect place to stay when visiting Pembrokeshire. Book online or give us a call on 01437 720300.
