Thrills at Oakwood Theme Park: Warpool Court Hotel’s Peter Trier Recommends Rides

“Wales’ biggest theme park delivers all the loops, rolls, twists and turns you and your family could ever want,” says Warpool Court Hotel proprietor Peter Trier, “and it’s right here in the heart of Pembrokeshire!”

Set in 80 acres of open countryside, Oakwood Theme Park is a great day out for all the family, with plenty of rides and activities for adults and children of all ages.

Younger children can explore the world of Neverland, with seven themed rides and an indoor soft play area, as well as other child-friendly rollercoasters and fairground rides, including Hook’s House of Havoc, Aerodrome, the London Taxi Ride, Jolly Roger Pirate Ship, Skull Rock, Crocodile Coaster, Tink’s Flying School, Neverland Chase, Witches’ Brew and Lost Boys Adventure.

Other areas of the park cater for anyone seeking a more adrenaline-fuelled adventure, with rides like Megafobia, Drenched and Speed.

Megafobia is the UK’s original wooden rollercoaster and has been voted the UK’s number one wooden rollercoaster numerous times. Drenched will carry you 100 feet in the air where you can enjoy fabulous views before you’re immediately plunged into the thrashing cold water. Then take on the beyond-vertical rollercoaster, Speed, travelling up to 56 mph.

The really brave could try Vertigo, the UK’s tallest sky-swing. You get to fly with two of your besties around one of the highest points of the park, and after you pull the release cord, you fly through a massive arch and back into the sky on the other side. It’s a popular ride that can get very busy so it’s a good idea to book Vertigo at the same time as buying your online tickets.

Among many others, attractions to round out the experience include family rides like Dizzy Disk, Creepy Crawler, Bobsleigh, Spooky 3D, Treetops and Snake River Falls. There’s also an arcade, air target shooting range and mini-golf.

Check out the events calendar to see what special activities are available, such as live entertainment, a summer festival, fireworks, After Dark, Colourfest (a UV colour powder party) and Spooktacular Halloween nights.

Before heading to the park, you may want to check on the weather as they may have to close some rides due to high winds, rain, thunder or lightning.  There are plenty of places to eat, and parking is free.

Remember that you’ll be doing a lot of walking so flat footwear is recommended, and all-weather gear is advisable - you could get wet or muddy. Dress for comfort.

If you’re travelling with a dog, it’s handy to note that guide dogs are permitted, while there are free holding kennels for other dogs. Note these are first-come, first-served.

After a long day out, you’ll be glad to return to Warpool Court Hotel for a relaxing dinner at the Sea View Restaurant.
