Why is Pembrokeshire the Perfect Holiday Destination?

Whether you’re planning to visit from abroad or enjoy a staycation in 2019, Pembrokeshire is a top all-round holiday destination. With the promise of beautiful, unspoilt countryside, a huge array of activities and a very warm welcome, it’s a great place to take a well-deserved break. So, whatever type of holiday you’re thinking of taking next year, here are just a few reasons why Pembrokeshire is the perfect choice.

Family Vacation

Keeping the children occupied is always important for a harmonious holiday! Here in Pembrokeshire, you’re spoiled for choice, whatever the age or preferences of the kids. There are the obvious attractions of the beach, where everyone can enjoy some fun in the sun and sea, but there are also a huge variety of places to visit, from wildlife and theme parks, to castles and Iron Age forts.  You can also catch one of the boat trips out to Pembrokeshire’s islands. Not only are they teeming with wildlife (the kids will just love the Puffins) but the surroundings seas are home to seals and dolphins that often pop up to welcome visitors.

Sporting Holiday

With such a long coastline, watersports are probably what people associate most with a holiday in Pembrokeshire. Sailing, kayaking, fishing and surfing are all hugely popular, with plenty of places to try your hand at a bit of fun in the water. Coasteering also began here in the north of the county, so there’s no better place to come if you fancy leaping off cliffs (safely, of course)! The quiet roads and miles of tracks that criss-cross the stunning countryside also make Pembrokeshire a magnet for cyclists. The terrain is so good, the county is the venue for several respected cycle races including the Tour of Pembrokeshire. And if exploring on two wheels isn’t your cup of tea, you can always visit one of the local horse-riding stables and explore the countryside and beaches on four legs instead.

A Quiet Break

We all need to get away from it all, clear our heads and recharge the batteries from time to time. With its rolling countryside, quiet villages and peaceful shores, Pembrokeshire is the perfect hideaway, particularly outside of the school holidays. It’s so easy to forget modern life and get back to nature here and there are plenty of spots along the wild cliff tops and in the wide-open moorland of the Preseli Hills to find some solitude and take a moment for yourself. Even just a few days in the fresh sea air enjoying the laid-back pace of life will do you the world of good!

Walking Holiday

The 186-mile Pembrokeshire Coast Path is the jewel in our crown. Voted one of the most spectacular trails in the world, it’s a must for anyone who loves a walking holiday. The views are sensational as the path threads along soaring cliff tops past coastal villages, seabird colonies, rocky coves and miles of sandy beaches. Inland walks also offer an incredible experience, like the historic Golden Road which traverses the spine of the ancient Preseli Hills, taking you past Neolithic burial chambers and mystical stone circles. The Pembrokeshire National Park also have maps of circular walks, that take you through some of the loveliest locations.

Romantic Escape

There’s something about Pembrokeshire’s wild, dramatic countryside, rugged cliffs and golden shores that inspires romance. Imagine walking hand in hand along soft sands as the waves lap at your feet and the sun sets over a sparkling sea. You can even turn that romantic evening stroll into an unforgettable night of stargazing in one of Pembrokeshire’s Dark Sky areas. Another essential ingredient of any romantic break is great food. As well as our own Seaview Restaurant, there are plenty of other renowned eateries where you can get cosy over some of the best fresh fish and seafood in Britain.
